Homefolks Design

Howard Frutkoff - Owner

Over the past 20 years I have chosen to be primarily involved in residential architecture.  As the owner of the Design/Construction Consultants over the past 17 years, I have divided my time between my own projects and working with Architects in the area.  This has allowed me to work on new homes, home additions and renovations ranging from small porches to 12 million dollar projects.  It has also given me the opportunity to work with, learn from and exchange ideas with many talented professionals.  Most of the additions and new homes have been in the metro-west area of Boston including projects in Natick, Framingham, Wayland, Sherborn, Dover, Brookline, Newton, Needham, Wellesley, Holliston,  Medway, Lexington,  etc.  As a consultant with other Architects I have worked on homes from Maine to the Cape to Westchester County New York.

In January of 2007 I opened an office space in downtown Natick and decided to change the name of the company to Homefolks Design.  The name “Homefolks” is meant to express my mission statement of providing quality, honest sensible design services to all clients with projects of all sizes.  In large part this mission comes from situations I have seen where people had a hard time finding design help because they didn’t live in a fancy neighborhood or because their project was small.  I have also seen cases where people paid large fees for minimal work, signed contracts for vague services or were given extravagant complicated designs that were way over budget and reflected what the designer wanted more than what the homeowner wanted.

While I am not a licensed Architect (the state building code does not require a license to do most residential work), I bring many years of design experience, ‘nuts and bolts’ production experience and a circle of relationships with professionals in the field to my business.  The community of Architects, Engineers, Builders and other designers that I interact with on a regular basis provides me with the opportunity to bring my clients a wealth of knowledge, skill and talent that no one person could provide.
